GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island woman was arrested for attempted first degree murder and other felonies after allegedly threatening U Save employees and attempting to enter the building with a knife.

On Friday, April 5, around 4:12 p.m., the Grand Island Police Department says that Hodan Farah left U Save Pharmacy, 423 4th St., upset with the pharmacy employees.

Around 4:40 p.m., officers say Hodan called the U Save location and advised an employee to tell the tech she was working with that she was going to choke her until she died.

Later, at 5:30 p.m., the Grand Island Emergency Center received a call from the suicide hotline stating at Farah was suicidal and homicidal and heading to the U Save location.

Farah and said that she was going to kill a pharmacist and advised she would be wearing a mask and carrying a knife.

Around 5:35 p.m., officers arrived at the U Save location to check on the welfare of the employees and to see if Farah had arrived. Officers were able to contact an employee, who advised they had received a call from Farah.

While officers were peaking with the employee, they observed a white SUV enter the parking lot and park directly in front of the building in a no parking area.

U Save employees identified the female driver as Farah and officers said they saw her exit the vehicle with a kitchen knife in hand and she tried to gain access to the building.

Officers held the front doors closed to prevent Farah from entering the building and gaining access to the employees.

There were five occupants inside the U Save and two occupants in Heartland Health Center and they locked the doors and sought shelter to protect themselves from Farah.

Farah would not comply with the officers’ commands to drop the knife, who advised she would be back and got into her vehicle to leave the property.

Officers advised Hodan to stop the vehicle, but she continued to attempt to leave, they would then break the driver’s window of Farah’s vehicle and have to physically remove her from the vehicle.

After removing Farah from the SUV, it rolled forward and hit the car in front of it.

Farah was arrested for two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of attempted first degree assault, five counts of terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon, obstructing and resisting arrest.

She was then booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
