GRAND ISLAND — Hall County Commissioners on Tuesday, April 9, saw architectural illustrations of the addition to the Hall County Courthouse.
Steve Severson with Davis Design gave a presentation about the architectural illustrations.
“This is great. This gives the public a visual,” said Commissioner Pam Lancaster.
Commissioner Gary Quandt asked for a cost for the project. Severson responded that information still needed to be added concerning having a construction manager at risk.
“How far out do we have finished plans,” Quandt asked. Severson responded that it depended on how soon the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services moved out of an office building that will be torn down.
Commissioner Karen Bredthauer said she had seen the courthouse in Broken Bow.
“It’s a very simple courthouse,” she said. She took photos of the interior and exterior of the building and will email them to Severson.
Severson said the interior finish of the building had not been determined. As he showed the various views of the courthouse from the north, south, east, and west, he pointed out the covered walkways that go from the courthouse addition to the courthouse. He also pointed out the new entrance to the building, which is on the front east side of the courthouse.

He estimated that an addition would cost $150,000. If the old Health Department building was used, an overhead door would need to be installed for the building. Commissioners did not take action on the issue.
