The first inning of the opening contest was all Kearney, forcing Omaha South to retire its starting pitcher after 1/3 inning, leading the contest 10-2. Helped out over multiple walks and three Packer errors, the Bearcats were able to make wholesale substitutions after two complete innings. Talyn Lewis picked up the win for Kearney on the mound to improve his record to 2-2, while Jake Hansen would strike out five in his two innings of work.

Sprinkle a little bit of everything for the Bearcats as they put together ingredients from every cup to dominate in a 7-0 win over Norfolk. Bryce Anderson is a name the Panthers will have a hard time sleeping on tonight as he went 1-2 with a 2 run blast to deep right field in the top of the third inning. Bryce also came on in relief for starter Derrick Nonhof who delivered 4 innings of scoreless pitching. Bryce struck out 4, walked one and did not allow any runs in his two innings of relief. Kearney had the gloves out on full display, but none were hotter than Jace Blattner who made a diving catch running to his left into foul territory in the bottom of the third inning. As a team the Bearcats had one error between the two games. Overall the Bearcats gather 10 hits, while holding Norfolk to just 6.

A couple big games await the Bearcats on the road as Kearney High will travel to Fremont on Monday, and then Bellevue East the next day. The Bearcats return home Wednesday, April 24th for senior day against Lincoln Northwest.
