Bearcats Blast Lincoln Northwest for Senior Day Win

KEARNEY – A decisive third inning pushed the Bearcats away from Lincoln Northwest on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field, as Kearney celebrated their senior class following a 12-2 victory in six innings. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

Kearney (14-11) earned their fourth win in five games, scoring twelve runs on eleven hits with two errors. The Falcons scored two runs on four hits with an error.

Jacob Hansen earned the win on the mound, working the complete six inning game in his first start of the season allowing four hits, two earned runs, and two strikeouts.

A slow start for Kearney in the opening two innings pushed Lincoln Northwest ahead early, as the Falcons plated a run in the opening inning giving them a 1-0 lead heading into the third. The Bearcats then erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third, working twelve batters in the frame.

Kearney would add another run in the fourth after Lincoln Northwest’s Jordan Schulz launched a left field home run to add another score for the Falcons.

Eight players earned hits in the contest for Kearney, including four players with multiple hits. Kole Throckmorton led the scoring with four RBI off of two hits and one run scored. Jase Blattner added two RBI, while Kegan Brand, Garrison Burns, Bryce Anderson, and Beau Skala each record an RBI as well.

The game was the regular season home finale for the Bearcats, who celebrated their seven seniors following the contest. The seniors recognized include Karter Lee, Garrison Burns, Kaleb Larson, Kegan Brand, Jacob Hansen, Beau Skala, and Jase Blattner.

Kearney is back in action on Friday heading to Duncan Field to face the Hastings Tigers. First pitch is expected to begin at 4:30 PM with KGFW’s pregame at 4:15 PM.
