Grand Island home found ransacked, $23,000 in gold, $900,000 in Thai currency stolen

GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island home was found burgled and $23,000 in gold and $900,000 in Thai currency had been stolen from a safe during the evening of Wednesday, April 24.

Around 8:04 p.m., the Grand Island Police Department dispatched officers to a residence on Aster Dr. for the report of a burglary.

Upon arrival, the homeowner reported to officers that upon returning home, they found the place ransacked and noticed their safe had been accessed with the contents inside taken.

It was reported that around $23,000 in gold and $900,000 in Thai Baht, the official currency of Thailand, worth around $24,000 US, had been taken.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
