NEBRASKA – The Class A baseball districts were officially posted by the NSAA on Wednesday morning, pitting Grand Island and Kearney to road trips towards the Capital City this weekend.
Grand Island (15-8) will play the winner of the No. 3 Bellevue East (15-16) and No. 4 Omaha Buena Vista (1-24) matchup at Sherman Field Saturday as part of the A-6 District. The winner of that semifinal contest would take on either top-seed and host No. 1 Lincoln Southwest or the winner of the No. 4 Lincoln Pius X and No. 5 Omaha Northwest contest.
The Islanders missed out on hosting the A-6 district by less than half a point in powerpoint standings.
Kearney (15-13) enters the A-1 District, hosted by top-seed and top-rated Lincoln East (27-1) ready to matchup with No. 2 seed Omaha Westside (15-14). That game is set for first pitch at 1:30 PM or at the conclusion of the Lincoln East and Omaha South/Omaha North contest at 11 AM. The A-1 District will take place at Den Hartog Field on Saturday.
