Alex Bales, 2024 USHL All-Rookie Team // Tri-City Storm
KEARNEY – Tri-City defenseman Alexander Bales has been named to the USHL’s All-Rookie Second Team following the 2023-2024 regular season. Bales skated in thirty-four games this season for Tri-City, but suffered a season-ending injury in January. He was the only Storm representative on this year’s All-Rookie Second Team. Alexander Bales, 17, Defenseman, from East Amherst, New York, was selected 56th overall by the Storm in the 4th round of the 2022 USHL Phase I Draft. Bales made his debut for the organization on November 18th, 2022, in Tri-City’s 4-3 shootout victory at the Viaero Center over the Des Moines Buccaneers. He scored his first career goal on April 22nd, 2023, in the Storm’s 5-3 win over the Lincoln Stars at the Viaero Center. Bales appeared in eight total games with Tri-City as an affiliate list call-up during the 2022-2023 season. He scored three goals and notched fourteen assists for seventeen total points in thirty-four games played with the Storm this season. Bales recorded his first multi-point game with two assists in Tri-City’s 6-2 home win over the Waterloo Black Hawks. He skated for the Kent School (Prep, Kent, Connecticut), Yale Jr. Bulldogs (AAA, New Haven, Connecticut), and Buffalo Sabres (AAA, Buffalo, New York) programs prior to his time in the USHL. Bales previously announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at Providence College.
