KEARNEY — A University of Nebraska – Kearney broadcast class made a visit to the NRG Media’s Kearney studio during the morning of Thursday, May 16.
Ford Clark, who teaches Communication Law, Radio Workshop, Sports Radio Workshop, Audio Production, brought one of his classes to the studio for a tour.
“Communication is one of the most important things we do in life- and companies say that they need people who are proficient in communication,” Clark states on UNK’s website.
Mark Reid, NRG Media Kearney Operations Manager, lead the tour and spoke about the history of AM and FM radio stations, the various formats, how the technology surrounding radio has changed, etc.
Reid also explained the three stations housed in Kearney, KGFW 1340 AM, which focuses on news, talk and sports, Hits 106, a top 40s station and Y102, playing the latest country hits.
Reid stressed the importance of having a relationship with Clark and UNK, as several students have later turned into NRG Media employees.
