HAMILTON Co. — Hannah Petersen, 39, of Grand Island was killed May 23 in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Hamilton County on Highway 34 between Y and Z Roads, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies found a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was eastbound on Highway 34 and left the roadway and entered the north ditch of the highway, according to the news release from Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department received numerous 911 calls about the incident.
The vehicle then rolled several times, eventually striking a grain bin. During this crash, Petersen, the driver, was ejected from the vehicle.
She was transported to York General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Hampton Fire Department, and Aurora Fire Department, the news release said.
