HASTINGS — The Hastings Police Department offers our deepest condolences to those affected by the fatal traffic crash that occurred last evening at the intersection of West South Street and South Hastings Avenue.
At around 6:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, an east bound Chevrolet pickup, driven by a 73-year old male resident of Hastings, collided with a 71-year old female resident of Hastings while she was crossing the street on an electric mobility scooter. The female was transported to Mary Lanning Healthcare by Hastings Fire and Rescue where she later passed away from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not physically injured.
The Hastings Police Department is investigating this crash with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol Crash Reconstructionist. While the investigation is ongoing, drugs and alcohol are not suspected as a factor.
