KEARNEY – The Kearney Legion Baseball teams found more home success on Wednesday night, cruising past Post 84 Columbus in their juniors and seniors action, dominating in the POST 52 Pinnacle Bank 14-3 win and a 5-1 Misko Seniors victory. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

Kearney (4-5) earned the win scoring five runs on seven hits while Columbus Cornerstone fell scoring one run on seven hits with an error.

The Misko Seniors had battled against Grand Island Home Federal the night prior at Ryder Park, dropping a Tri-City battle 6-1. Kearney returned home Wednesday night for a home tilt at Memorial Field welcoming Columbus.

In the early stretch, Kearney controlled and dominated the opening three innings putting up four of their five runs in the first two frames. Kole Throckmorton had a two RBI single in the first, while Tysen Cabela launched a two RBI single in the second to pace Kearney ahead early.

The Misko Seniors would add their final scored run in the bottom of the third from a Kaleb Larson single. Throckmorton would later add a triple in the bottom of the sixth, but would be left stranded despite leading off the order.

Bryce Anderson took the win on the mound with his complete game, seven inning performance allowing seven hits with an earned run, no walks, and seven strikeouts. Alex Griffith of Columbus fielded the loss for Columbus, going five innings allowing six hits, five runs, all earned, with two walks and five strikeouts.

The Misko Seniors will have the rest of the week and weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, June 11 at Duncan Field battling Hastings Five Points Bank in a rematch from late May. KGFW will broadcast the contest.
