JOHNSON LAKE — The 24th annual “Light Up the Lake” firework show at Johnson Lake will take place on Friday, July 5.
The annual show has been changed to July 5, after historically taking place on July 3. A rain date of Saturday, July 6 has been set. The fireworks begin at dusk, typically around 10 p.m.
“Please help thank the agencies who assisted us including Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District, the Gosper County Sheriff’s Office and the Elwood Fire Department,” the Johnson Lake Fireworks Fund stated.
“Thank you to those who supported the show financially. Your contributions to the Light Up the Lake Fireworks Fund ensure that this event will continue to be a major summer attraction for the area,” the firework fund stated.
It was noted by the Elwood Chamber of Commerce that there will be no firework show in Elwood this year due to rising costs and the difficulty in finding a team to light them, but they encourage people to attend the Johnson Lake show.
