ARKANSAS – The Kearney Legion Seniors found their third win as part of the Chad Wolfe Classic in Arkansas Saturday morning, setting them into the tournament bracket.

The Misko Seniors took a close battle with the Midwest Mavericks 6-5 early Saturday morning. Kearney edged past the Mavericks scoring six runs with eight hits and no errors, while the Midwest squad fell scoring five runs on seven hits with two errors.

After two back-to-back complete games by Derrick Nonhof and Rhett Mundorf, Bryce Anderson nearly had a third front-to-back finish. Instead, the southpaw delivered six innings, allowing seven hits with three earned run while punching out seven strikeouts.

Kegan Brand earned the save, facing seven batters while tossing seventeen strikes in his thirty four pitches.

Anderson was also impressive with his bat, delivering two RBI that allowed Kearney to climb into a 6-3 advantage heading into the final frame. The Misko Seniors had scored one run in the first, two in the second, and three in the fourth.

Two runs in the top of the seventh made the contest a one-run game, but Kearney prevailed fending off the Mavericks.

Mundorf finished three-of-four for the day, adding an RBI as well.

With the win, Kearney has exited pool play and qualified for tournament play to further extend their weekend in Arkansas. Their next game has yet to be determined but is expected to start later today.
