Misko Seniors Win Two at Home Invite Saturday

KEARNEY – The Kearney Misko Seniors had a strong start to their home invite at Memorial Field Saturday, scoring a total of 23 runs in ten innings.

The Misko Sports Seniors welcomed three teams to their home turf for the weekend, as each squad will have one game remaining on the weekend beginning Sunday afternoon.

In the opening contest of the Misko Sports invite, Kearney downed Stasburger Ortho Lincoln Northwest 9-1. The Misko Seniors won scoring nine runs on eleven hits while Lincoln Northwest fell with one run scored on two hits.

Kearney moved ahead early, scoring eight runs in the first two innings to take an 8-0 advantage early. Bryce Anderson claimed the win on the mound, working three innings allowing one hit, one earned run, while knocking down four strikeouts with two walks. Huston Arnold arrived in relief for the final two innings.

Rhett Mundorf had two hits with two runs scored, while Anderson’s big bats proved to be a difference maker with 4 RBI including a three-run home run.

In the nightcap contest of the home invite, Kearney’s bats continued to run strong downing Scottsbluff 14-3 at Memorial Field. The Misko Seniors earned their fourth consecutive win by scoring fourteen runs on eleven hits with one error, as the WESTCO Seniors fell scoring three runs on three hits with an error.

Rydge Jackson was the winning pitcher for Kearney, going four innings with two hits and two earned runs allowed on five walks and two strikeouts.

Kaleb Larson finished the day 2-2 with 3 RBI – as did Jacob Hansen – while six other players contributed scores including Kegan Brand (2 RBI), Gunner Demilt (2 RBI), Jase Blattner, Charlie Loofe, and Kole Throckmorton.

The Misko Sports Seniors will battle Grand Island U-Save Pharmacy at 3 PM this afternoon to wrap up the home invite, as Scottsbluff and Lincoln Northwest begin the action at 12:30 PM.
