By Alex Hammeke Jun 25, 2024 | 11:17 PM

Jack Polk sent the first six Kearney batters back to the dugout, while North Platte would score six runs in the first two innings of play in the FNBO Nationals 9-1 victory over Kearney at Bill Wood field in six innings. Click here to listen to the broadcast replay.

The FNBO Nationals would knock around starting pitcher Derrick Nonhof in the first two innings, being credited for the loss in 2.2 innings of work, allowing eight runs. Jake Hansen would arrive in relief of Nonhof, dealing two scoreless innings.

Kearney was only able to see two flashes of life, once in the third inning and again in the sixth. Kole Throckmorton would lead off the third with a double, followed up with a double from Tysen Cabela a couple pitches later to score Throckmorton. The other hit would arrive when Rhett Mundorf would reach on base with a single, only to end the inning stranded at third base. North Platte would win the contest early when a single scored the leadoff hitter who advanced on being hit by pitch.

Kearney fell to 12-9 on the season, and will compete at the Mike Peterson and Coach K Tournament in Lincoln this weekend.
