Five arrested, one cited after attempting to instigate a fight in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND — Six people were arrested in Grand Island for attempting to instigate a fight during the afternoon hours of Friday, June 28.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 4:44 p.m., officers responded to W. 5th St. in reference to a suspicious call for service.

It was reported to dispatch that several people had arrived at a residence wearing masks and threatening an individual inside. It was also noted that one of the individuals was wielding a machete.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Emily Rodriguez had recruited the held of Johnathan Mason, Jesus Patino, Adams Diaz-Archer and Austin Baker to arrive at the residence to fight the people inside.

All five individuals entered the exterior portion of the property in an effort to start the fight.

Officers later determined the machete displayed by Johnathan Mason belonged to the homeowner. Mason had entered a detached shed in order to retrieve it.

As GIPD officers arrived on scene, Mason ran through an alley and threw the machete on top of a nearby roof.

Mason, Diaz-Archer, Baker were all placed into custody. Emily Rodriguez was determined to be under the age of 21 and was in the possession of a nicotine vape device.

A juvenile female was determined to be the mother of an infant child that was in a vehicle at the time of the incident, they were later issues a citation.

Jesus Patino was later found to have surrounded the residence while wearing a mask with an intent to start a fight.

Diaz Archer was arrested for terroristic threats and second-degree trespassing; Baker was arrested for terroristic threats and second-degree trespassing.

Mason was arrested for terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, burglary, tampering with evidence and second-degree trespassing.

Rodriguez was arrested for terroristic threats, possession of an electronic nicotine device and second-degree trespassing.
