DAWSON CO. — Property owners in Dawson County that suffered significant storm damage before July 1st, 2024, may qualify for a reduction in their assessment for the 2024 Tax year.

If you have damage totaling more than 20% or your assessed value, you will need to fill out a Form 425. You can find these forms on the Department of Revenue’s website or pick them up from the County Assessor’s or County Clerk’s office.

These forms need to be filed in the County Assessor’s AND County Clerk’s office by July 15, 2024. Due to the quick turnaround on these and an effort to process these requests in a timely manner, The County Assessor’s office is requesting that supporting documentation be filed with your form. This may include:

1) Insurance company damage estimate
2) Contractor Repair Estimated Expense
3) Photos of the damage (please submit a photo identifying your property with a street photo of the property that includes the address)

Please turn these in at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions please call our office at 308-324-3471.
