KEARNEY — The Kearney Community Learning Center (KCLC) is excited to announce the culmination of its summer horseback riding program with a special show on Friday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Christine’s Horseback Riding, located at 8215 Hidden Hills Rd.

This summer, KCLC partnered with Christine’s Horseback Riding to provide a unique and enriching experience for students entering the 4th and 5th grades this fall. The program included hands-on lessons in horse care, such as brushing, saddling, and riding, as well as instruction in various aspects of horse care.

Highlights of the program included a field trip to the Overton Veterinary Clinic, where students gained insights into veterinary care specific to horses and witnessed basic equine medical procedures. Additionally, the students visited the Nebraska Wild Horse and Burro Facility, learning about the care and management of mustangs.

The upcoming show will feature students demonstrating their newly acquired skills in western horsemanship. This event is not only a celebration of the students’ hard work and dedication but also an opportunity for the community to see the benefits of hands-on, experiential learning.

“We are thrilled to offer this unique program to our students,” said Michelle Arehart, KCLC Director. “The partnership with Christine’s Horseback Riding has provided an incredible learning experience, and we are proud of all the students have accomplished.”

Families, friends, and community members are invited to attend and support the young riders as they showcase their skills and knowledge.
