GRAND ISLAND — Amazon has launched its first site in Grand Island in response to customer demand.

The facility will help facilitate the last mile of the delivery stage, where goods are sorted at a fulfillment facility and loaded onto delivery vehicles to be sent to customers.

“Amazon is excited to be a part of the Grand Island and surrounding community as a good employer and increase the capacity of customers receiving packages in this region,” said Site Leader David Carlson. “We look forward to growing our relationship in central Nebraska and continue Amazon’s mission to be the most customer-centric company.”

The new facility at 4201 Gold Core Road, is on the east side of Gold Core Road and south of W. Schimmer Drive. This is Amazon’s first operational location west of Omaha and is the company’s fourth facility in the state of Nebraska.

As part of building a relationship with the Grand Island community and ahead of the site opening, associates at the facility donated $1,000 worth of women’s clothing and supplies to Hope Harbor while also performing yardwork and serving meals to community members on July 5, which also marked the 30th anniversary of Amazon.

The Grand Island last-mile facility opened fully staffed, as employees will receive and prepare inventory for delivery, use technology to sort, scan and prepare orders, and transport pallets and packages to ready them for delivery for customers.
