GRAND ISLAND — Following a low-speed pursuit in Grand Island, a man was found to be concealing meth and a glass pipe on his immediate person during a search at the jail during the afternoon of Wednesday, July 10.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 1:28 p.m., officers observed a Dodge Stratus northbound on Oak St. North approaching 10th St. East and it would fail to stop for the posted stop sign for northbound traffic.

A traffic stop was attempted at 12th St and Oak St., but the vehicle would fail to stop and continue northbound. Officers activated audible sirens, but the vehicle did not stop.

The Stratus turned eastbound on 17th St. without coming to a complete stop for another posted stop sign. Officers continued to attempt to stop the vehicle as it continued at a low rate of speed of 20 mph.

The vehicle would make several more turns, traveling around 10 blocks without stopping for law enforcement. The driver would finally pull into the driveway of a residence on 19th St. East.

The driver, identified as David Anderson, exited the vehicle and officers say he admitted to knowing the police where behind him.

Anderson was placed under arrest and a record check showed he had no drivers license issued to him.

While at the Hall County Department of Corrections, a thorough search was conducted and a baggie of methamphetamine weighting 8.3 grams and a glass pipe were found concealed under his genitals.

Anderson would be arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, flight to avoid arrest – misdemeanor, no operator’s license and two counts of a stop sign violation.
