GRAND ISLAND — Weather permitting, new traffic signals will become operational on July 22 at the junction of US-34 and I-80 and at the intersection of US-34 and West Platte Street, from reference post 226.60 to reference post 226.70, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

Gehring Construction of Columbus is the contractor for this project. Work will include uncovering and testing the signals. Minor finishing work includes pavement marking, grading and seeding.

Traffic will be maintained with intermittent lane closures.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
