Crop duster aircraft crashes into power lines north of Overton on Wednesday

OVERTON — An aerial applicator aircraft crashed after striking powerlines north of Overton during the afternoon of Wednesday, July 24.

According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, at 4:11 p.m., the dispatch center received an iPhone crash indication at 76150 Road 444, north of Overton.

When deputies arrived on scene they found an aerial application aircraft had struck power lines and crashed. The pilot, Christian M. Timm, 23 of Eustis was found at the scene.

Timm was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney by Overton Fire and Rescue.

Timm had been applying chemicals to a field for Johnson Lake Flying Service at the time of the crash. The aircraft’s landing gear struck an electrical wire, causing the crash. The plane is a total loss.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Overton Fire and Rescue, Nebraska Public Power District, Dawson Public Power District and the Lexington Airport.
