Holdrege motorcyclist killed after colliding with ambulance north of Pleasanton

PLEASANTON — The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of an adult male driver.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2024 ambulance was traveling southbound on US Highway 10, north of Pleasanton, NE, transporting a patient to Kearney. The ambulance was followed by a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a male.

The ambulance slowed to meet up with another dispatched ambulance, and the motorcycle collided with the rear of the ambulance. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Jacob A. Kimberly, 29, of Holdrege, Nebraska, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney/Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team (FAIT), Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, CHI Good Samaritan Hospital Paramedics, Nebraska State Department of Roads, and the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.

Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
