HASTINGS — A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition following an incident where she had to be rescued by a lifeguard from the deep end of a pool in the Hastings Water Park.
On July 31, 2024, at around 1:50 p.m., the Hastings Police Department and Hastings Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the Hastings Water Park, per the Hastings Police Department, (HPD).
A 13-year-old girl transitioned from the shallow end of the pool to the deep end where she did not resurface from the water.
A lifeguard removed the girl from the water and began life saving procedures, per the HPD.
CPR and an AED were used on the girl, and she was transported to Mary Lanning Hospital in critical condition.
The HPD is investigating the incident to determine the facts.
“Additional information will be released after further investigation into this incident which will include a review of surveillance video and interviews with witnesses,” the HPD stated.
