GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island man has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old and 18-year-old.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault of a child, a Class 1B felony.

He was arraigned on the charges in Hall County Court on Monday, July 29. His bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m.

According to the probable cause statement, allegations of sexual assault against children came into a hotline and named the father of four children, three of which are girls, as responsible.

The man’s girlfriend also has a daughter that lives with the family.

The allegation was that the father was touching the 15-year-old and 18-year-old, and he does this while intoxicated. There was a similar report to the Department of Health and Human Services from August 2021 that was deemed unfounded at the time.

Officers and a DHHS worker interviewed the four girls and allegations of sexual penetration that took place from early 2021 to December 2023.

Central Nebraska Today.com does not generally name victims of sexual assault. The man’s name is being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.
