GRAND ISLAND – A Grand Island woman who police say attempted to run over two juveniles with her car has reached a plea agreement.

Janet Cochran, 75, of Grand Island pleaded guilty Aug. 1 in Hall County District Court to felony terroristic threats for a Feb. 13 incident.

In exchange, two counts of felony using a deadly weapon to commit a felony and one count of felony terroristic threats were dismissed.

Hall County District Court Judge Patrick Lee found Cochran guilty and set sentencing for 10 a.m. Oct. 8.

According to a Grand Island Police Department probable cause statement, officers responded to 1020 S. Plum St. where a juvenile male and juvenile female said that Cochran was attempting to run them over.

“It was reported that the juvenile female was feuding with Janet’s granddaughter,” the statement said. The granddaughter got into a white vehicle with her grandmother and “drove beside them aggressively as they were walking on the sidewalk.”

“It was reported that Janet swerved to the opposite side of the road, hit the curb, and almost ran over the juvenile male’s foot. Both the juvenile male and female report feeling scared and feared they were going to get run over,” the statement said.

Cochran reported to officers that the incident took place in the 900 block of South Sycamore Street.

“Tire marks consistent with the juveniles’ report would be observed along the curb of the road,” the statement said.
