KEARNEY — The Kearney Area Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $6,500 in Building for Tomorrow grants to three local nonprofits.

• $2,500 was awarded to the Friends Program of Kearney to support a mental health initiative.

• $2,500 was awarded to Kearney Noon Rotary to help provide books to 600 children in the Kearney area through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program.

• $1,500 was awarded to Silver Threads to help create quilts for area veterans.

The Building for Tomorrow Grant typically funds projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Grants are made to nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) qualified organizations, or organizations delivering a project or program which have a fiscal relationship with a qualified charity.

Applications are accepted on a bi-annual basis with the next “Building for Tomorrow” grant cycle on Feb. 1, 2025. Organizations are encouraged to read the grants guidelines by visiting www.kearneyfoundation.org/building-for-tomorrow to determine if their organization qualifies and to apply in the coming months.
