GRAND ISLAND — The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation is excited to announce the nomination period for the esteemed Kim West Dinsdale Excellence in Teaching Award is now open.

This annual award honors Hall County teachers and guidance counselors who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, creativity, and impact in their classrooms. The Foundation invites parents, students, staff, and community members to submit nominations for the 2024 award online at GICF.org.

The Excellence in Teaching Award, established to celebrate outstanding pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade educators in Hall County, seeks to recognize teachers who go above and beyond in their commitment to fostering an engaging and dynamic learning environment. This award is open to educators across various disciplines in grades Pre-K through 12 who have made a significant impact on their students’ academic and personal growth.

“Teachers do more than teach; they inspire students to reach new heights of success,” says Kim West Dinsdale, who founded the Excellence in Teaching program in 2005. “I am so pleased that, through the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, we have an opportunity to honor our teachers – these shining examples who demonstrate a love for and quality in teaching.”

Winners are announced in a December recognition ceremony. The Excellence in Teaching Award honoree will receive $5,000 to be used at their discretion. Visit GICF.org to nominate a teacher. The deadline for nominations is 11:59 p.m. on September 30, 2024.

The Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, established in 1960, continues its mission to empower community members by creating legacies that strengthen the future of Grand Island.
