KEARNEY — The EducationQuest Foundation has selected the Hanny Arram Center for Success (HACS) as a recipient of the prestigious College Access Grant.

This grant, designed to empower Nebraska high school students to pursue higher education, will provide HACS with $10,000 over the next four years to support college access programming.

“We are thrilled to be recipients of this grant,” states Jason Owens, Principal of Hanny Arram Center for Success. We are one of the first non-traditional schools to receive this grant, and the support it provides will help our scholars see the opportunities available to them.”

The funding will enable HACS to implement a range of activities aimed at fostering a college-going culture among students. Key initiatives include:

• College Visits: Helping students feel more comfortable with the college experience through organized visits to various post-secondary institutions.

• Student Progress Tracking: Assisting students in outlining essential college planning steps, such as applying for admission, completing scholarship applications, and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

• Family Engagement: Getting the parents involved early to emphasize the importance of preparing for college early by covering topics such as dual-credit courses, extracurricular involvement, college entrance exams, and school-arranged college visits.

• Cultivating a College-Going Culture: Inspiring students to explore education beyond high school through collaborative efforts between counselors and teachers.

• Navigating Financial Aid: Partnering with EducationQuest or local college financial aid offices to guide families through the financial-aid process and completing the FAFSA.

The Hanny Arram Center for Success is committed to creating opportunities for all students to realize their potential and pursue higher education. This generous grant from the EducationQuest Foundation is a significant step toward achieving this mission.

“This grant represents a tremendous opportunity for our Arram Center students and their exposure to post-secondary opportunities,” said Jason Mundorf, Superintendent of Kearney Public Schools. “It aligns perfectly with our mission to prepare every student for success. We are grateful to the EducationQuest Foundation for their support and partnership of our students!”
