Update: Victim shot, suspect located, Omaha Northwest High School released from lockdown

OMAHA — The Omaha Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred at or near Omaha Northwest High School on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Update, 1:06 p.m. – OPD is advising this appears to be an isolated incident. The suspect has been taken into custody and there is no threat to the public at this time. Area schools have been released from lockdown status.

Past Story

There is reported to be one victim at this time. The school is currently in lockdown.

Officers are actively searching the area for the suspect. Residents are asked to avoid the area for the search.

“Reunification area for parents and students will be at the football stadium west of the school. This will be a lengthy process so please be patient. The school will move from lockdown to a hold, then move students,” per the OPD.
