The Kearney Canal, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)
KEARNEY — The Kearney Canal is in the process of being lowered and will be dewatered until spring, according to the Nebraska Public Power District.
Typically, the canal runs until around October, but NPPD crews found an area that needs repaired.
It was discovered there had been some water seepage and because irrigation along the canal has finished for the year, NPPD opted to dewater the canal so they can make repairs.
