Check out the most popular baby names in central Nebraska in 2023

KEARNEY — The new Nebraska Vital Statistics Birth Dashboard recently released contains essential birth information, as well as the most popular baby names from across the state.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced the release of the new dashboard that includes statistics data are fundamental to public health assessment and planning processes correlating with the overall health of the population.

This dashboard includes de-identified aggregate birth data between the years 2005-2023 for Nebraska resident births.

“The dashboard allows results to be presented across six overarching sections, including an overall summary, birth rates, baby names, characteristics of the mother (age, race/ethnicity, education, and marital status), characteristics of pregnancy (parity, plurality, smoking status, pre-pregnancy BMI, hypertension, diabetes, previous preterm delivery, adequacy of prenatal care, and trimester of prenatal care), and characteristics of birth (birth weight, breastfeeding at discharge, delivery method, delivery payment source, and gestational age),” per DHHS.

The most poplar baby names can be searched on a statewide basis or broken down by local health department district.

The Two Rivers Public Health Department oversees Buffalo, Dawson, Franklin, Gosper, Harlan, Kearney and Phelps counties in central Nebraska.

According to the birth dashboard, the most popular female names in the Two Rivers district in 2023 included: Harper, Willow, Kinsley, Lainey, Sutton, Aria, Callie, Charlie, Charlotte and Haven.

The most popular male names in the Two Rivers district during the same year included: Noah, Owen, Asher, Brooks, Elijah, Henry, Oliver, Santiago, Abel and Carson.

The top ten female names statewide included: Charlotte, Olivia, Sophia, Amelia, Evelyn, Mia, Emma, Harper, Eleanor and Lucy.

The top ten male names included: Oliver, Liam, Henry, Theodore, Noah, William, Leo, Elijah, Owen and Jack.
