Omaha Storm Chasers undergo ownership change

The Omaha Storm Chasers have been sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings from Alliance Sports, according to a press release from the team this morning.

The Storm Chasers will remain in Omaha, and the team’s front office staff, led by President Martie Cordaro, will also remain in place and continue to operate the club under DBH. The club will continue playing at Werner Park as the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

“Larry and I are incredibly proud of the Storm Chasers’ impact on the Omaha community over the past 12 years,” Gary Green, co-owner of Alliance Sports, said. “As we shift our focus full time to Union Omaha and look to grow Omaha’s sports landscape, we are confident the Storm Chasers are in great hands with DBH. They have a strong reputation for honoring each club’s unique identity while making a positive impact on the local community.”

Diamond Baseball Holdings now owns 36 Minor League Baseball clubs across the United States, with this being their 12th Triple A acquisition.The group has acquired seven minor league baseball teams this year.

The Storm Chasers finished the regular season with a record of 80-68, winning the International League first half title. They will play the Columbus Clippers in the International League Championship Series tonight.
