BROKEN BOW — Following a bomb threat on Thursday, Sept. 26, the Broken Bow Public Schools took the necessary precautions to protect students.
The district made an announcement to students, parents and staff that a bomb threat notice regarding the high school had been received through the Protect Ok app during the morning hours.
“As a precaution, we have initiated our emergency protocols and have evacuated the high school and middle school campuses. Our students are safe, and we are working closely with law enforcement officials regarding this threat,” the district stated on social media.
Dierks Elementary and Bennett Elementary Schools were placed on lockdown, and students were safe in their classrooms and finished the day staying inside.
At 11:20 a.m., both the high school and middle school classes were cancelled, and students could be picked up from the evacuation point.
At 12:28 p.m., the bomb squad had cleared the busses and routes were running as normal.
The security sweep was continuing at 2:48 p.m. and the school received an all clear signal from law enforcement at 3:56 p.m. At that point, students and staff could re-enter the building to collect their belongings.
