GRAND ISLAND – The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles Service Center in Grand Island is relocating to a new building at 3529 S. Locust. St.

Construction of the building started this month, according to a news release from White Lotus Group of Omaha, a real estate development firm. The new building will be adjacent to the South Locust Street Walmart. Estimated completion date is late summer 2025.

The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles currently has its office located in one room at the Hall County Administration Building, but has run out of space at that location.

“We are excited to bring this modern and efficient DMV Service Center to Grand Island,” said Alex Bullington, development manager, at White Lotus Group. “This new location will enhance the customer experience and streamline processes for individuals seeking DMV services. It promises to be a valuable addition to the community.”

The built-to-suit service center will be 12,000 square feet and will feature eight service counters to efficiently serve customers. It will offer a range of services including written exam testing, driver’s license testing, CDL vehicle inspection area, and a dedicated motorcycle skills test area. The design team consists of Slate Architecture, Clark & Enersen, ETI Engineering and Performance Engineering. Chief Construction is the general contractor. Upon completion of the project, White Lotus Group will manage the property

White Lotus Group’s additional State of Nebraska projects include the DMV’s West Omaha location at 170th and West Dodge Road, DMV’s North Omaha Express Office at 56th and Ames, the Department of Health and Human Services office at 30th and Fort in the 30 Metro building, and the newest Lincoln DMV located at 4700 Cattle Drive, which opened last May
