AURORA – One person is dead following a two-truck crash Wednesday evening near the Aurora interchange on Interstate 80.
At 8:24 p.m. Oct. 2, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a straight truck versus semi-truck crash at westbound mile marker 334 on the interstate, according to Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy.
The straight truck was eastbound on Interstate 80 and crossed the median, striking a westbound semi-truck. The straight truck caught fire and was blocking both westbound lanes.
The driver of the straight truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department is attempting to identify the driver. The driver of the westbound semi-truck was not injured, McCoy said.
The Nebraska State Patrol and Aurora Police Department assisted with the crash investigation and traffic control.
