KEARNEY — The 55th annual Gateway Farm Expo kicked off its events at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Gateway Farm Expo is the longest running farm show in Nebraska and draws thousands of visitors each year, according to the event’s website.
The speakers on Wednesday included Kevin Knorr with Volitant Drone Technologies speaking on spray drone technology.
In the afternoon, Allison Seiler and Dan Lindstrom spoke about transitioning and estate planning for farmers. The last was Paul Downey, Bluestone Wealth Advisors speaking about financial planning for transition and retirement.
The Gateway Farm Expo has long been held at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney. The expo is scheduled in late November, after harvest, allowing farmers and ranchers time to have a good handle on their production and operation goals for the next year.
“The expo is strategically positioned to maximize opportunities to make sales and promote agricultural technology, equipment and operation inputs,” per the event website.
Kearney Farm Expo, Inc., a nonprofit organization, volunteers from local businesses keep the show running successfully. Show proceeds are used to promote Gateway Farm Expo and its exhibitors.
“Gateway Farm Expo prides itself on promoting agricultural education in communities across Nebraska. Students involved in 4-H, Agribusiness clubs, FFA and collegiate education in agriculture benefit from Gateway scholarships and donations,” the expo website states.
The Gateway Farm Expo continues on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
