GRAND ISLAND — A man with a felony conviction was found to be in possession of a shotgun during a traffic stop on New Year’s Day in Grand Island.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 4:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to N. Webb Road for a possible intoxicated person.
Officers contacted a man later identified as Travis Reitan in a vehicle in the area.
During a driving under the influence investigation, officers located a shotgun in plain view in the vehicle.
A record check revealed that Reitan has a felony conviction in Nebraska and was previously convicted of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Reitan was arrested for possession of firearm by a prohibited person – subsequent charge.
