Central Nebraska NSP troopers respond to 21 crashes due to winter storm impacts

KEARNEY — The recent winter weather impacts made travel hazardous throughout the state and troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol were kept busy with crashes and motorists assists.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, troopers in central Nebraska responded to 21 crashes and 50 motorists assists this weekend.

Statewide, troopers responded to 55 crashes and 126 motorists assisted, none of them involved serious injuries.

Interstate 80 was closed at various times and points on Sunday, Jan. 5. I-80 westbound was closed for a time at Elm Creek due to an overturned semi-trailer. There were also multiple crashes in Lincoln County that closed the eastbound lane at North Platte.
