HASTINGS — The snow emergency – originally scheduled to run through 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5 – was canceled 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6.
Snow removal began late Sunday morning as the snowfall subsided. Because Hastings did not receive as much snow as was anticipated, and residential streets looked good, street plowing was kept to emergency snow routes.
Snow removal on emergency snow route streets was completed in about 3 hours. Cleanup of snow downtown went well Sunday night.
City parking lots were cleared and treated with the salt/sand mixture.
Crews put out the salt/sand mixture after plowing on emergency routes and around schools to help with commutes on Monday.
City snow removal crews continued to check streets on Monday. If there are any problem areas still needing attention please call (402) 461-2341.
