GRAND ISLAND — A woman with active Hall and Lancaster County warrants is facing additional charges after she resisted Grand Island police officers who were taking her into custody.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers contacted Adak Derkeng Majak at her residence. Majak had an active Hall and Lancaster County arrest warrants.
After police announced their presence, the GIPD says that Majak attempted to hold the door against them by physically holding it shut.
After the officers gained entry, they told Majak she was under arrest and placed in handcuffs.
The GIPD states that Majak then told the officers she was going to resist and went limp to act as dead weight and kicked a hole in a wall while the officers tried to search her and take her downstairs to a police car.
Majak was arrested for obstructing a police office, resisting arrest – second offense, a Hall County arrest warrant for failure to appear – driving under the influence – second offense and operate a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and a Lancaster County warrant for failure to appear – two counts of third-degree assault and identity theft.
