ANSLEY — Nine area fire departments responded to a large wildfire south of Ansley on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The initial dispatch occurred around 2 p.m. when a fire was reported near the intersection of Highway 183 and Road 781, around 10 miles south of the community of Ansley.
Nine area fire departments, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management Agency all responded to the scene.
The fire burned around 900 acres and state crews were monitoring the situation throughout the evening.
The cause has yet to be determined.
