LEXINGTON — A GoFundMe has been established for a Lexington family after the loss of the father and daughter who were killed in a car accident on Interstater 80 near Grand Island.
Daniel Ortega and Emelin Ortega were killed in the crash after their car lost control on Interstate 80 on Tuesday.
“Daniel was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and friend. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. Emelin, our beloved sister, was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends. Together, they brought warmth and joy to everyone they encountered, and their absence leaves a deep void in our hearts,” the GoFundMe reads.
A GoFundMe is set up to help the family lay their father and daughter to rest. The family is seeing an outpouring of support with more than $20K raised.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 310, when it lost control, crossed the median, and struck an eastbound semi.
Both occupants of the Chevrolet, Emelin Ortega Rodas, 25, of Lexington, and Daniel Ortega Marroquin, 62, of Lexington, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Severe winter weather was a factor in the crash.
