Winter Weather Advisory for Friday, March 7, (NWS Hastings, Courtesy)

HASTINGS — A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several north central Nebraska counties for Friday, March 7. A dusting of snow up to two inches is expected around the Interstate 80 corridor.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, the current counties within the area include Custer, Howard, Sherman, Valley and Greeley. More areas of northern Nebraska are under a Winter Storm Warning.

Outside of the advisory area, along the I-80 corridor, could see a dusting of snow or up to two inches. Travel impacts could expand toward the Nebraska state line throughout the day.

While winds are not a primary concern with this system, there could be some blowing or drifting snow and temporarily reduced visibilities for areas that see at least an inch of snowfall.

The brush with winter will be short lived as high pressure will build over the local area. Highs are expected to rise 10-15 degrees each afternoon from Saturday through Monday.

Temperatures on Monday are expected to be in the mid-70s across a majority of the area. With the climbing temperatures, breezing winds and lower relative humidity, near critical fire weather conditions are possible across the area on Monday and Tuesday.
