HASTINGS — A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of central Nebraska starting the afternoon of Thursday, March 13.
The National Weather Service – Hastings states that the Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday due to the winds and low relative humidity.
The winds will be out of the south at 15 to 25 mph with some gusts reaching as high as 30 mph. Meanwhile, relative humidity will be as low as 15 to 20 percent across much of the region.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
