GRAND ISLAND – Goodwill Industries of Greater Nebraska opened a new retail store April 4 at 2130 N. Diers Ave.
The store is located in the former OfficeMax building and is just north of Menards.
“This is more than a store for us,” said Goodwill Chief Executive Officer Curtiss Dill. “Community partners mean the world to us.”
The store was empty on Monday and was stocked in five days.
The store covers approximately 15,000 square feet and has 35 to 40 employees, Dill said. Goodwill Industries covers a 55-county area in central and western Nebraska.
“It really was an opportunity to grow our footprint,” Dill said. The revenue from the store “is a great way to support our mission. This store tells our story.”
There is an area for people to drop off donations on the south exterior of the store.
Dill said Goodwill is very appreciative of the community support it receives.
The store is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
A ribbon cutting for the store occurred just prior to its opening April 4. Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele and State Sen. Dan Quick were among those attending the ribbon cutting.
