KEARNEY — The Kearney City Council approved the purchase of two separate shade structures for Memorial Field during their meeting on Tuesday, April 8.
The proposal, received from Next Generation Recreation, specifies two separate shade structures, one 20 feet by 20 feet and the other 20 feet by 60 feet. Both are cantilevered structures to cover the majority of the upper deck and east of the press box.
The total amount for the shade structures is $76,558.27, there will be a funding contribution from the Kearney Legion Board of $42,000.
The construction of the shade structure will begin this summer.
The purchase was part of the consent agenda and approved by the city council, along with the other items.
