GRAND ISLAND — A suspect was arrested after making bomb threats in Grand Island during the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 9.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, around 1:49 a.m., officers responded to the area of 2nd and Eddy St. in reference to a bomb that was reported on the side of the road.

However, when officers arrived, they did not locate a bomb or anything suspicious.

Later, around 4:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of two black males with a bomb at the Fonner Park Casino. Officers did not locate a bomb or the individuals matching the description at Fonner Park.

The reporting party, identified by his Kansas driver’s license as Ahmed Mohammed, was located on Stolley Park and S. Locust St.

According to the GIPD, Mohammed would tell the officers that he had reported the false bombs to waste law enforcement’s time. It was confirmed that Mohammed’s number matched the one that had contacted dispatch.

Mohammed was arrested for placing a false bomb and was booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections.
