GRAND ISLAND — Following multiple public input meetings and conversations with community stakeholders, a major Grand Island Parks and Recreation project is underway at Pier Park.
For the first time in nearly 25 years, the Pier Park Skatepark is getting replaced. Demolition work on the current skatepark started Monday, April 14. Crews from Artisan Concrete Services are tearing down the longstanding fixtures made of steel and wood materials and will be replacing them with long-lasting concreate features typically seen at other modern skateparks.
The total cost of the project comes to $892,783.50.
