Lepler remains incompetent to stand trial in headstone fraud case

GRAND ISLAND – Hall County District Judge Andrew Butler has ruled that Kelli Lepler remains incompetent to stand trial. The first ruling was made in January.

Lepler, 47, owned a Grand Island cemetery headstone business, Monument Advisors, and is accused of receiving $258,404 from 43 customers. The headstones were never installed.

Lepler appeared by Zoom from the Lincoln Regional Center. Her attorney is Jessica Fauss, Deputy Hall County Public Defender. Prosector is Kali Pearson, Deputy Hall County Attorney.

Lepler is to remain at the Lincoln Regional Center. Her case was continued to 8:30 a.m. June 17. One week prior to that date, the Lincoln Regional Center must provide an updated competency report.

She is charged in Hall County District Court with 46 counts of theft by deception, of which 38 charges are felonies and eight charges are misdemeanors.

The purchases were made between Jan. 8, 2020, and Feb. 9, 2023.
